How can we protect and safeguard our (on- and offline) fundamental rights with increasingly complex algorithms? The keyword here is transparency, which was one of the conclusions from the research report Algorithms and Fundamental rights of Utrecht University, commissioned by the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relationships.

On the event “Transparancy of Algorithms” the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and ECP met with representatives from the business community. They discussed the approach on how to protect fundamental rights in digitization (3 December). Jeroen van den Hoven gave a pitch on the topic “Ehtics by design is the future”. On 29 November a similar session took place with scientist and experts, where Jeroen van den Hoven gave a session on “Ethics by design is the future”. On 3 December they continued to build upon these results.
