On the 13th of February professor Jeroen van den Hoven provided insights at the knowledge center (kenniscafé) in Emmen on ethics in a digital world with a focus on privacy and social media.
Professor Jeroen van den Hoven spoke at the Winter Academy of the Asser Institute on Artificial Intelligence and International Law. The topic on which he spoke was the ethics of AI and value-sensitive design.
Professor Jeroen van den Hoven spoke at the JURIX conference on legal knowledge and information systems. He discussed ethics by design and the interaction between AI and law, arguing that responsible innovations in the field of AI and Law require methods, tools and conceptual frameworks that allow us to use moral values (e.g. regarding transparency, explainability, but also values implied by democracy, human rights, rule of law) as supra functional requirements for design.
The Swedish National Council on Medical Ethics arranged the conference “Artificial intelligence in health care. What are the opportunities? ethical challenges?” Jeroen van den Hoven was one of the speakers at this event.
The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and ECP met with representatives from the business community. They discussed the approach on how to protect fundamental rights in digitization. Jeroen van den Hoven spoke on both events. IN DUTCH
The event explores the weakness and dangers the digital environment poses to democracy. It also discusses how the digital environment might positively enhance the quality of democracy. Jeroen van den Hoven participated in the panel discussion.
